SCHOTT (Booth 3916) introduced LightPoints LED glass today at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Annual Meeting & Convention. LightPoints is a decorative glass product line that offers unique interior design options for both high-end jet interiors and airport public areas. With the LightPoints product line, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) appear to float freely inside glass and glow, creating customized design accents for cabins, terminals and airport waiting areas.

Custom-sized modules, flexible placement of the LEDs and invisible wiring make it possible for the LightPoints LED glass line to blend in with any design scheme. LightPoints LED glass can be used for mood lighting, branding, and decorative partitions can glow with a pattern of lights.

LightPoints LED glass is also an ideal decorative element for on the ground waiting areas and can be used to create an innovative space for VIP lounges and waiting areas. Current applications include high-end retail, entertainment, and office areas.

“The LightPoints LED glass product line provides customers a perfect blend of design and practicality,” said Donald Press, General Manager of SCHOTT’s architectural business in North America. “It enhances design while creating a unique and comfortable ambiance.”

LightPoints panels consist of transparent base glass capable of conducting electricity. The glass is fitted with LEDs affixed to a cover glass to form PVB (polyvinyl butyral) laminated safety glass. The power (low-voltage direct current) is supplied through nearly invisible circuit boards.

Customers can utilize a variety of colors, sizes and quantities of the LED LightPoints™ units depending upon their specific design and lighting needs. The PVB-laminated glass meets code requirements for fall protection glazing, and also fulfills EN 12 600.

Conductive PVB-laminated glass can also be used to supply external devices with power. The base glass pane that provides the electrical contact does not require any holes, enabling it to be utilized outdoors.
